Tatum passes Beal and SLUH to advance to state championship
March 18, 2016
The final act is almost over.
On Thursday night at Mizzou Arena, Chaminade faced off against MCC Rival SLUH. It was a dominant game for the Red Devils as they defeated SLUH 75-49. The Red Devils played great both offensively and defensively. They absolutely stifled Matt Nester and the entire SLUH team, as Nester did not get one bucket in the game. The defense also forced the Jr. Bills to turn the ball over a lot in this one as Chaminade finished the game with 24 points off SLUH turnovers.
The offense was also a big piece of the Red Devil’s success in this one. The usual suspects all came to play, as Cook finished with 14 points, Lewis added 12 points and after a very quiet 1st quarter Jayson Tatum finished with 28 points and 6 boards. With 28 points on the night, Jayson eclipsed Bradley Beal’s all-time scoring record at Chaminade. Tatum now has 2,636 career points as a Red Devil while Beal has 2,634.
With the win, your Red Devils move on to the state championship game on Saturday where they have drawn an outstanding Kickapoo team. With only one game left, Chaminade will look to end their show with a happy ending.
