“One of my goals since I was a kid was to play college basketball here in the United States.”
That is what junior resident student Oskar Kuzman said when asked why he decided to come to Chaminade. Strictly business.
Oskar first learned about Chaminade St. Louis through his basketball agent (yes, his agent). While he had multiple offers from other schools, he and his agent agreed that Chaminade seemed like the best fit.
As Oskar puts it, “After learning more about the history of the school and the success the basketball program has had in the recent past, I realized Chaminade was the place for me.”
While his primary focus at Chaminade is on basketball, he is also excited to improve his English and become immersed in American culture. Although he does miss his family back home and his favorite dish, “Cevapi,” Oskar is ready to take the next step in his career.
Oskar knows he will be successful because of his versatility, saying “I can play defense, I can shoot every type of shot, I can rebound, I can dunk,” and because he is a “team first style player, so I will try to fit the team as much as I can.”
The interview finished with Oskar revealing who he tries to emulate on the court. His response was fitting.
“I really like Kevin Durant and Paul George. I like KD because he’s tall but can do everything like a guard. I like Paul George because he is smooth and tough with great shot creation ability.”
While the “Slim Reaper” and “PG-13” are household nicknames, make way for the “Slovenian Slasher” coming to a high school basketball court near you.
