Any Chaminade student who has spent enough time around the campus knows that there are numerous rumors that circulate regarding students and teachers. Many wouldn’t think beloved Math and Theology teacher Mr. Shaver would have his own rumors. However, there are rumors floating around regarding Mr. Shaver’s food pallet. Many students and staff claim that Mr. Shaver limits himself to only a few food items. Cardinal & White Newspaper staff decided to find out more about this in an interview with Mr. Shaver himself.
When asked where his love for chicken tenders began, Mr. Shaver stated, “When I was a child, if we were on a road trip, we would stop somewhere. My brothers always wanted McDonalds, but I did not, because I don’t like their chicken nuggets. I always wanted Burger King’s chicken tenders. They are always a blessing every time I have them.”
He was then questioned about why he specifically loves chicken tenders and what other items students could see him eat, and he said the following: “You can never beat chicken tenders. The nice deep fried chicken tenders, they are always excellent. There are rumors that I have a narrow pallet, but in my pallet, you’ll see a lot of mac and cheese, fries, and pizza. However, I also love broccoli and many vegetables. You won’t see salad or condiments of any kind.”
Many people would want to know where Mr. Shaver had the best chicken tenders and what made them so good, and he said the following: “I don’t have one favorite place, but I try not to discriminate and spread the wealth of my love of chicken tenders. Some days I’m feeling Chick-fil-A, other days I’m feeling Cane’s. The tenders can’t be too dry, there has to be the right balance of chicken to breading, a bit of crunch to the breading, and a little bit of spicy seasoning.”
Naturally, we followed by asking him if he had ever had a bad chicken tender, and he said that the bad chicken tenders he has had were either “really bland, dry, or overcooked.”
He then noted that the best drink to go with chicken tenders is a Dr. Pepper with light ice.
Lastly, Mr. Shaver gave us his opinion of Chaminade’s Cafe Moe chicken tenders, and said, “They are pretty good, and I will never turn them down”.
Although many students see Mr. Shaver eating chicken tenders or macaroni and cheese during lunch, now readers will understand the backstory behind his food preferences. Anybody looking for the best combination for their chicken tenders can take advice from the expert himself. The next time you go out to get some chicken tenders, check to make sure they follow Mr. Shaver’s criteria and couple it with a nice Dr. Pepper.
