Everything is new in MLC this year. The newly renovated Immaculate Conception chapel, new moderators, and a bunch of new faces attending at 7:10 AM!
For those who do not know what MLC stands for, it is the Marianist Life Community. There is a Mass or prayer service every Friday morning at 7:10 with free breakfast provided! They also have middle school meetings throughout the year, as well as a Saturday event once a month during the school year.
The breakfast they serve at MLC every Friday morning is kolaches. They come in three flavors: sausage gravy, sausage egg and cheese, and bacon egg and cheese. Cooper Brown ’26 had this to say about the kolaches, “They [kolaches] are pretty good”.
Many people have been attending every Friday, creating a great faith community here at school. There have been two Masses and two prayer services so far.
The first prayer service was centered on Psalm 18:2, “The Lord is my rock and my salvation…” Students had the chance to write a prayer intention on a rock, and they were placed out on a table.
Last Friday (9/19), the prayer service was centered on why God allows suffering. Even with a limited crowd because of class trips, there was still a great atmosphere, and it continued MLC’s mission of creating a faithful brotherhood among the student body.
I would be remiss without mentioning the new moderators this year. Joining the original three, Dr. Schmitt, Mr. Massa, and Mr. Shaver, there are two new moderators! Mr. Schilly and Mrs. Schneeberger joined the group of moderators helping out at each morning meeting and Saturday meeting. SCHmitt, SHaver, SCHilly, SCHneeberger.
