Are you looking for a show to binge-watch this winter break? Let me introduce you to arguably Netflix’s greatest TV show: Stranger Things. Stranger Things is a sci-fi mystery series set in the 1980s in the small town of Hawkins, Indiana. The story begins when a young boy, Will Byers, mysteriously disappears, prompting his friends, family, and the local police chief to search for answers to his disappearance. As they investigate, they uncover strange government experiments, eerie supernatural occurrences, and a world that exists beneath the surface of their town: The Upside Down.
The show blends nostalgia, suspense, adventure, and heartfelt friendship, following a group of kids, teens, and adults who must confront forces far beyond anything they’ve ever faced. It’s known for its retro 80s style, emotional storytelling, and a balance of humor, horror, and mystery. With the first half of the 5th and final season coming out a few weeks ago and the show coming to an end, there’s nothing better to do this winter break than sit back, relax, and enjoy Stranger Things.
With the first season coming out nearly ten years ago, a young cast consisting of Noah Schnapp (Will), Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), and Sadie Sink (Max) has grown up together during the making of this show, which makes the ending even more emotional that it already is. I myself did not start watching Stranger Things until this year, and I’m glad I did because it’s truly incredible. The acting, the writing, the storytelling, the violence, the romance, it’s all there. It’s definitely a show you can start on the first day of winter break and finish before you go back to school in January, and it’s definitely a show I would recommend, as it just gets better and better as you watch.
For season 5 of Stranger Things, the season will be released periodically over the next couple of months. Volume 1 (Episodes 1-4) came out on November 26th, Volume 2 (Episodes 5-7) will come out on Christmas Day, and The Finale (Episode 8) will release on New Year’s Eve, and fans, including myself, are absolutely stoked for it.
Bored this winter break and want to watch a good TV show? Give Stranger Things a try.
