TK Capts Exclusive

TK+Capts+Exclusive

From Chaminade soccer to LeBron James, Thomas Krueger — known professionally as TK Capts — has taken pictures of it all. He is currently a senior here at Chaminade and is the resident photographer of all the sports teams. He mainly focuses on taking pictures for the basketball team, as it is his favorite sport. Last summer, he traveled with the Brad Beal Elite AAU basketball team and took pictures of them and their opponents. Among these players and coaches were Bradley Beal, LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, Carmelo Anthony, and many more. For this edition of the Cardinal and White, I sat down with Thomas and asked him some questions about his beginnings with photography and what he wants to do going forward.

Thomas said that he got his beginnings wanting to shoot movie-like videos, but that photos are easier to learn and so he has stuck with them ever since. Dabbling in small bits of video, he has taken pictures of Chaminade sports since his sophomore year, and he has done so for almost every sport offered by the school. Most of his work is in basketball, because there are many chances to get a good shot and the play is always close to the camera. Other sports have less action, and this can lead to missing a few or all of the big moments while play is on the other end of the field. When he was in Augusta for Peach Jam, an annual basketball competition featuring some of the best high school players in North America, Thomas had the opportunity to take pictures of many NBA superstars who were present with their Elite Youth Basketball League teams. Some of his pictures even ended up being posted on the James family Instagram account. He explained, “I think I took some of the better photos, and it was cool to get recognized for that.” TK plans on taking pictures for the sports teams of whatever college he ends up going to. Best of luck to you, Thomas!
